New walk from St Neot to Carnglaze

This is a circular walk of just over 3 miles with some moderately steep sections, starting and ending at the St Neot village car park, near the pub.

View Walk

The route follows the St Neot river through meadows and along the edge of woods into the Loveny Valley.

The walk joins a quarry trail and climbs through the woods to follow the contour of the valley, passing an auditorium-like bowl quarried out of the slate.

The quarry path descends to meet the River Loveny and follows this to Carnglaze Caverns, where quarrying has created underground caverns which were used to store the Royal Navy's Rum in the Second World War but are now open to the public (which definitely wouldn't have been the case in WW2!).

From here, the route follows lanes through the woods and out of the valley to reach Woodlands Farm. The return route is through fields with views over St Neot, passing St Neot's mediaeval church, Town Mill and close to the Holy Well.

The walk is available as a guided walk app for Android and also available in the iWalk app for iPhone.
